Leather Invasion was formed to create new and alternative social and cultural activities for those interested in the love, camaraderie and kinship of the Leather / Fetish lifestyle. Robert Valin was Mr. Eagle NYC 2005. He has put the word out on the "streets" for people to gather, to share, to hear stories and be part of this event as everyone stomps down memory lane.

Everyone is invited to come together - pulling in grandmas and brothers of brothers - to celebrate the history of this amazing neighborhood, which has long been known as a bastion of artistic and bohemian culture. It is where the fanciful artist, The Sultan, and his gay bishop partner did their penance - by having a good time. This historic walk is noteworthy enough that there are plans to include it in a documentary currently in the making.

Durk Dehner says:

It is springtime and the evenings are perfect for a stroll and do we have one for you! The coming together of two of the more radical gangs of the West Village. On one side of the street you have Leather Invasion and its notorious ringleader, Robert Valin. Yeah, he's the guy that thought it was a kool idea to take his band, fully geared up, over to IKEA in Jersey. Grouping and growin' in numbers on the other side of the street are the west coast boys from ToFF House, all in line so that no one can break their stride. Got a motorcycle? Come lead the way!

The evening is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM at Julius (159 W. 10th St.), NYC's oldest gay bar, for beers 'n' burgers. The guided walking tour leaves from there at 7:30 PM and ends at 9:00 PM at the gay and lesbian store, The Leather Man, on Christopher Street for some shopping!

The bar crawl begins at 9:00 PM at The Hanger with its remarkable artwork by Steve Kramer. Other stops include the famous (infamous?) Stonewall which has been restored with a dance floor and re-opened; Ty's, one of the oldest bars on Christopher; and the "Bear" friendly Dugout, overlooking the Hudson with the newly renovated Hudson River Park - which once housed the notorious piers.

This tour is part of five spectacular days of Tom of Finland in New York. A cocktail reception, Tom of Finland: COMING OF AGE - 21 will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2006, from 6:30 to 9:30 PM, at the Charles Cowles Gallery, 537 West 24th Street, in Manhattan. The evening will showcase 21 of Tom of Finland's finest works from the Foundation's Permanent Collection.

The Foundation's Sixth Annual New York City Erotic Art Fair starts with an Artist Reception on Friday, May 19 at 7:00 PM. The Fair will be open to the public on Saturday, the 20th and on Sunday, the 21st at the Center, 208 West 13th Street. NYC Leather Invasion will have a booth at the Fair where they will feature the photography of Dick Mitchell. An "invasion" by the group is planned for the Fair on Saturday at 2:00 PM.

The Foundation and NYC Leather Invasion invite everyone to roll out the memories, and recreate the dramas of the '60s & '70s. Learn about what it was then - and what it is today. Stroll past The Mineshaft and The Lure, and imagine the souls of horny studs between tables of the tony eateries that now inhabit their space. Dehner adds, "Listen what a good time is to be had - burgers, a stroll, sexy company and some bar hopping. Yes sir, it's a great way to keep the stories being passed down and that's really important. Come along and share yours."

Proceeds from these events benefit the Tom of Finland Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
