foundation announcements

Any time! (Well, almost) Los Angeles, CA

TOM  OF  FINLAND  FOUNDATION
A House. A Home.
A Museum.
An open invitation.

Click for a larger view.

The Foundation House is where Tom of Finland stayed when he came to America. It is also the Home of our cofounder, Durk Dehner, as well as our current artist-in-residence Michael Kirwan, and long-time housemate Anthony.

Tom's room on the third floor is much like it was when he stayed there, and is filled with "Tom" memorabilia: some of his uniforms, his notebooks, and artwork. This floor is also home to the bustling Foundation office.

The building is also a Museum and Art Gallery. Sure, there are times that we are swamped with work, but we are proud of this place and welcome visitors to take a tour nine times out of ten - even on short notice.

Our open Invitation:

If you live in the Los Angeles area and haven't viewed the Foundation House for a year or two, you owe yourself the treat of our latest exhibition.

Just visiting? Make sure to stop in! We are close to central L.A. and could be a lot more interesting than the usual tourist traps this town is famous for.

We also have shelves of books on erotic art for researchers, art students, and those with a curiosity about sexually explicit artwork. Drop in to check out our library. No need to be shy, this IS the Tom of Finland Foundation.

Call Daniel, our friendly administrator,
at 213.250.1685 to make an appointment.

Artist In Passing John Blackburn

John Blackburn
September 10, 1939 April 7, 2006

During the late 70's John created the infamous character of Coley, a bisexual hedonist who's sexual pleasures were vast and often. For this character John incorporated his own experiences and memories of what is was like being a gay young blade in the south during the '60s and '70s.
