OVER A QUARTER CENTURY OF DEDICATION TO PROTECTING, PRESERVING AND PROMOTING EROTIC ART.

MEET ME AT THE FAIR

The 6th Annual Tom of Finland Erotic Art Weekend will take place in Los Angeles October 13-15. The weekend kicks off on Friday night with a cocktail reception for the artists at the Tom of Finland house in Echo Park. [Please note the venue has changed on future fairs.] The Erotic Art Fair will once again be held at L.A. Lofts on Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood, and will run Saturday from 1 to 7 PM and Sunday from noon to 6 PM. Saturday evening, the annual Foundation Dinner will be held at a local restaurant, giving members and artists another chance to eat, drink, socialize, and catch up on the Foundation's accomplishments over the year. Sunday morning, we're planning a special program: Foundation Board member Tony Mills, a former International Mr. Leather and Colt model who also holds a degree in art history, will deliver a lecture titled “Is It Art Or Is It Pornography?” Following the lecture, a panel of experts in art and psychology will conduct a discussion. We look forward to this stimulating and educational addition to the Erotic Art Weekend.

The life drawing models are ready to pose, Marcello is ready to show his work, Tony Mills is ready to talk, and the crowds of art lovers are waiting to see it all - don't miss the fun, be there!

Also new this year is the Erotic Art Fair Catalog. This booklet will list the artists who will display at the Fair, and give them the option of listing the works they plan to offer for sale; thus collectors who cannot get to L.A. for the actual Fair will still have the opportunity to purchase pieces to augment their collections. Artists who cannot make it to the Fair will likewise be able to place ads offering their work. The Catalog will also include an “In Memoriam” page, remembering those artists who have left us during the year; an annual entry to the “Erotic Art Hall of Fame”, plus a ballot to register your choice for the following year's honoree; and a coupon worth $5.00 off the price of admission to the Erotic Art Fair.

We plan to make the Catalog available toward the end of July, and we expect it to become a collector's item, so reserve your copy now! The cost is $10.00, plus $3.00 (domestic) or $5.00 (foreign) shipping and handling.

EROTIC ARTIST HALL OF FAME

This year's Erotic Art Fair will mark the beginning of a new tradition at The Tom of Finland Foundation – the establishment of the Erotic Artist Hall of Fame. Each year, we intend to name a new inductee, whose work over the course of a lifetime has contributed to the world of erotic art. Each year's inductee will be honored with a display at the Erotic Art Fair, and a tribute will be offered at the annual Foundation dinner held during the weekend.

For the first member of the Erotic Artist Hall of Fame, we offer our Founder, Tom of Finland. We feel it is only fitting that the man whose vision co-created the Foundation dedicated to preserving, promoting, and protecting erotic art and artists all over the world should be the initial member of the Hall of Fame that bears his name. We hope you agree.

In ensuing years, however, we want to know your opinion. Who do you think deserves a place in the Hall of Fame? Why? We plan to solicit opinions from various experts over the course of the year, but we're also interested in votes from Foundation members and interested collectors.

In this year's Erotic Art Fair Catalog, you will find a ballot for next year's Hall of Fame designee. We urge you to fill it out and send it to us. And if you can't get hold of the Catalog, write to us anyway and give us your nomination.

Help us make the Erotic Artist Hall of Fame into an institution all artists will be honored to join!

HAPPY SEXUALITY
“In those days, a gay man was made to feel nothing but shame about his feelings and his sexuality. I wanted my drawings to counteract that, to show gay men being happy and positive about who they were. Oh, I didn’t sit down to think this all out carefully. But I knew — right from the start — that my men were going to be proud and happy men!"
