This exhibition of works completed in 2005 comes from the artist¹s own bombardment of Pop culture - Punk Rock bands The Ramones, and The Sex Pistols to the 1960's Adam West Batman and villains, Casper, Yoda and other nefarious cartoon characters.

Still inherent in his tales of street anarchism and catholic upbringing, John John's style stays within these confines to further tell us exquisitely rendered stories of the extreme folly of youth. The delineation of the models' poses and facial expressions, their clothing and toys, their dreams and their naive exploration into the forbidden, all reflect the artist's experience with the familiar.

Vivid color, built up in translucent layers of color pencil, gouache,
embellished with gold leaf enamel, erupts alongside finely rendered ink drawing and mists of paint. He executes these works with flawless and obsessive detail with an unmatched flair for originality. He has brought his underground art tunnel to an audience who collects his work on a global scale, showing us that the only hope beyond the tragedy of life, is the fact that he has survived it with his art.

TOM ON HIS WORK
"Yes, I consider my work pornography. Pornography means to stimulate peoples' sexual feelings, and I'm always very aware of that. My motive is lower than art." — Tom of Finland from the MSC Finland Website.
