The winners of the 2001 Emerging Erotic Artist Competition were honored at the Foundation Awards Banquet in October. Artists Philip Hitchcock and Jay Jorgenson – who was co-winner of the 1999 Grand Prize – presented the awards in the categories of Single Figure, Multiple Figure, Photography, and Fantasy/Fetish. The artist Dragon, from San Francisco, was the big winner, capturing First Prize in both Multiple Figure and Fantasy/ Fetish, as well as the Grand Prize for his Fantasy/Fetish entry. The winners were determined using a “blind” scoring process by the following distinguished panel of judges: Gordon Baldwin, curator; Cliff Benjamin, Mark Moore Gallery, Santa Monica; Nayland Blake, artist and professor at Bard College New York; Gisela Schadel, Erotic Art Museum, Hamburg, Germany; and Stewart Hardman, Adonis Gallery, London, England. If you are interested in purchasing any of the artwork from the 2001 contest, including that of the winners, you can contact us with your inquires.

MALE MUSE
"Whenever I was depressed or disgusted, I would feel him, that spirit inside, urging me back to living, back to drawing, I believe there is a lot to the world that can’t be seen or touched, and if you turn away from that — especially if you are an artist — you are avoiding an important part of life, maybe the very heart of it.” — Tom of Finland
