OCTOBER 6, 7, AND 8, 2006

The Foundation Bestows
The stars will turn out as Michael Childers, Rod McKuen and Harvey S. Shipley Miller are honored at the Foundation’s Annual Awards Banquet.

This year, 2006, is an important one — for Tom and for us at the Foundation — for we have seen Tom's work included in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and it marks our 21st Anniversary.

The 12th Annual Tom of Finland Foundation Erotic Art Fair Weekend will take place October 6, 7, and 8, 2006.

Opening festivities begin on Friday evening with an Artist Reception at the Tom of Finland Foundation Headquarters – that wonderful, energy-filled house where Tom himself lived and created for over a decade of his life. The Reception features the annual curation of the some 150 works gracing the walls of the three-story arts and crafts building that has been the home to the Foundation for the last 22 years. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served.

Mix art, artists and a place to indulge in the fine culinary creations of master chef and artist extraordinaire Mr. Michael Kirwan – and you have fresh and tarty conversations amongst the California gardens and filtered lighting that always entices its visitors to stay for just for a bit longer.

The Erotic Art Fair, is open both Saturday and Sunday, in West Hollywood’s Plummer Park. We expect up to 85 artist booths in this fall’s gathering, thanks in part to a larger venue at Fiesta Hall – a restored 1930’s California Mission exhibition and meeting hall.

When the Foundation presented the first Fair in 1995, it was the only event of its kind, and it continues to be one of the largest events in the world dedicated to providing erotic artists an opportunity to showcase and sell their work to the public. Artists from all over the United States and from several foreign countries will be exhibiting. Virtually every medium is represented: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and digital work. The Foundation strives to include art representing all genders and sexual orientations.

The Weekend serves as a fundraising event for the Foundation, and provides a unique opportunity for erotic artists from around the world to display and sell their work to the public. The educational value of the Fairs is enormous: for many, artists and public alike, the Fairs provide the only venue in which erotic art can be displayed, enjoyed, and purchased.

This year the Fair will include an exhibit on some of the many artists whose careers the Foundation has boosted in its first 22 years. On both Saturday and Sunday afternoons, we hold panel discussions on erotic art with top experts in the field. Adding a great backdrop to the Fair’s ambience are our ever-popular life drawing workshops. All three features are included with admission to the Fair.

We are pleased to announce our co-sponsors whose aid and support help make this event possible: the City of West Hollywood; the City of West Hollywood Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission; the City of West Hollywood Lesbian and Gay Advisory Board; the Consulate General of Finland in Los Angeles; and the West Hollywood Convention and Visitors Bureau. We also salute Frontiers Magazine, MJ’s Dance Bar, and Smirnoff for their support.

This year's Award Winners announced!

The Tom of Finland Foundation has announced the recipients of its three major annual awards. The awards, acrylic sculptures designed by artist Philip Hitchcock, will be presented at the Foundation’s annual Awards Banquet, to be held on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at the Wyndham Bel Age Hotel in West Hollywood.
