RiskPress Gallery is pleased to present Bodies In Relief, a solo exhibition by figurative artist Fernando Reyes of Oakland, CA. The relief prints created by Reyes depict the human form in a dazzling array of colors, perspectives, and moods. The works exhibited here are all on paper and include woodblock prints, linoleum block prints and monoprints.

Reyes is known for his exquisite linework. Originally inspired by the old masters, he maintains the time-honored practice of drawing regularly from live models. The traditional methodology, however, produces works that are completely contemporary. Though all the pieces are essentially representational, some of the works depict juxtaposed and overlapping human forms in varying dimensions that create an illusion of abstraction. Other works are of a single figure and have a simple, sensual beauty.
